My journey into pigments began as a hands-on exploration, an effort to find contemporary, personal ways of making art. I picked up my sketchbook and started gathering inspiration from the world around me. Plants quickly caught my attention, and I began swatching them directly onto the pages, leaving living traces of where I'd been.
Though pigment-making has deep historical roots, my approach is grounded in the present. It’s about the craft of creating with what’s around me and cultivating a sense of gratitude for those materials. By turning plants into pigment, I’m not just capturing colour, but documenting a process, a place, and a moment in time.
This practice is both creative and reflective, an ongoing dialogue between the old and the new, the natural and the handmade.
